The Second Friday Ironweed Film Club will screen tonight (Friday)
at 7:30 pm at BES:

"HEART OF FIRE"

Narrative films are a rare choice for Ironweed, but this moving story,
based on the memoirs of Senait G. Mehari, is one we had to share. Not
yet released in the U.S., this superbly crafted drama comes from
director Luigi Falorni, whose last film was the delightful docudrama
"The Story of the Weeping Camel". In Heart of Fire, the young
headstrong heroine Awet is given to the Eritrean Liberation Front by
her father and brainwashed into battle. At first broken-hearted, then
eager to prove herself a good warrior, she soon learns the
disillusioning realities of civil war and begins her brave resistance.
The magnetic performance by 10-year-old Letekidan Micael as Awet makes
this movie irresistible, and brings home the tragedy of tens of
thousands of children forced to fight in violent conflicts around the
world. (Director: Luigi Falorni, 94 minutes)

For details, visit the film web page at

The Cafe Muse is open for dinner starting at 5:30 pm. (It's located
at the front of the Old Congress Hotel.)

Hope to see you there!

Thanks,

--Emil
